Dr Jonathan Pearson-Stuttard received a lifetime Honorary Fellowship from the UK's Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) yesterday.

The awards ceremony took place on 26 November at Surveyors House, RICS Westminster, where speeches were given by Dr Beccy Cooper MP, Lord James Bethell and Chris Boardman CBE.

He was recognised for his role in shaping public health in the UK and around the world, alongside prestigious honourees, including Professor Dame Jenny Harries (lifetime Honorary Fellowship) and Albert G. Mulley Jr. (lifetime Honorary Membership of the APHA).

Dr Jonathan Pearson-Stuttard is a Public Health Physician and Epidemiologist. He is currently Head of Health Analytics at Lane Clark & Peacock (LCP), where he founded and has led the Health team for the last five years. Jonny also sits on the Board of LCP. The Health team’s mission is to help shift healthcare systems from being importers of illness to exporters of health, enabling them to prevent disease, promote wellbeing and create healthier populations that benefit society.

Alongside this, he was, until recently, the founding Chair of the Health Inequalities Programme Board at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, where he retains a position as Consultant in Public Health and Medical Epidemiology.

Jonny was Editor-in-Chief of the UK Chief Medical Officer's 2018 annual report, Health 2040 – Better Health Within Reach, which recommended the development of a composite Health Index. His subsequent book with Professor Dame Sally Davies, 'Whose health is it anyway?' positioned health as the UK's most untapped opportunity for prosperity and happiness. Jonny served a full term as Chair of the RSPH from 2022 to 2025 and is still a serving member of its Council.

Dr Jonathan Pearson-Stuttard said: “I am deeply honoured to receive a Lifetime Honorary Fellowship from the RSPH. It has been a privilege to serve as Chair over the past three years, working alongside such dedicated colleagues to champion prevention, reduce health inequalities, and strengthen the nation’s health. Public health has never mattered more, and I look forward to continuing to support RSPH’s mission in the years ahead. My sincere thanks to fellow Trustees, staff, and wider membership for their commitment and collaboration.”

William Roberts, Chief Executive, Royal Society for Public Health, said: “I would like to congratulate Jonny Pearson-Stuttard, Dame Jenny Harries, and Albert Mulley. From pandemic responses to better clinical care, these awards recognize their hugely significant contributions to public health.

“It has never been more important to celebrate the people who impact our health for the better. The work they do is crucial to ensuring people get the best chance to live a happy, healthy life.

“We are at a critical moment for the health of the nation. As health inequalities and ill health continue to rise, we must continue working together to build a healthier future for all.”
