LCP’s Insurance Unconference 2026

It’s year three for LCP’s Insurance Unconference, and the floor is yours once again!

Lighthouse on a rocky outreach

Event Details

Echoes of the past, or an uncharted future?

As natural catastrophes continue to devastate communities, geopolitical tensions come to a head and agentic AI redefines what is possible, insurance has a vital role to play in helping society to adapt. Can we still learn from the past (perhaps distant, perhaps recent) to plan better for the future, or are we so far beyond “business as usual” that this is impossible?

What's an unconference?

It's a collaborative event where attendees set the agenda and host sessions live on the day. An unconference allows you to:

  • Explore the topics you are most interested in, in a way that suits you.
  • Learn what other market participants are interested in and identify emerging trends.
  • Openly discuss and collaborate with others to solve problems, share knowledge and generate ideas.

Our unconference will equip you with ideas, insights and new connections for the year ahead.

FAQs

Who will be attending?

We encourage general insurance professionals from different roles, companies and sectors to attend to provide a diverse range of discussion and ideas.

What are some examples of sessions?

  • Show and tell - share a project, experience or demo, or invite others to share theirs (eg project management war stories; top tips for returning to work after a career break)
  • Brainstorming (eg new LLM use cases)
  • Teach/learn how to do something (eg how to build a coding mindset)
  • Help me solve a problem/question (eg the risks of offshoring)
  • Group discussion/debate on an interesting topic (eg the poverty premium - what's 'fair'?)

Who can host a session?

Anyone. You can host on your own or with other attendees. You don't have to be an expert either - you can use the session as a way to harness the knowledge from others in the room.

Does my session have to relate to the overall event theme?

No. Our overall theme for this year (Echoes of the past, or an uncharted future?) is just a starting point, and you can run a session on any topic that you think attendees will find useful.

Do I have to host a session?

There's no pressure to host. If you're not hosting, keep checking the agenda to decide on what to attend, as it may change throughout the Unconference. You are welcome to join or leave sessions part-way through - whatever works for you.

How many sessions can I host?

As many as you like.

How do I host a session?

You can plan your session in advance or create one on the fly (eg if you think of an interesting idea that you want to explore further, or you're having a great conversation that you want to extend).

Do I need to prepare for my session?

Not necessarily. If it's a brainstorm or spontaneous idea, you can just see where the discussion goes. However, if you do have some pre-prepared materials, these might make your session more effective.

We suggest giving a brief introduction to the topic at the start of your session to kick things off, but how you run it depends on what you want to get out of it.

Flip charts and screens will be available, and tables and seating can be rearranged to suit your session.

Can I change my session?

Yes. At any time, you can change your session time or topic, cancel it, extend it, break it into smaller groups, re-run it or merge with another similar session. The LCP team will be on hand to help you update the agenda accordingly.

What if there isn't enough to fill a session?

You don't have to use up the full 25 minutes. If you reach a natural conclusion early, people can have a break or join another session. And if it looks like it will run over because you're having interesting conversations, that's no problem, you can simply extend the session.
