What becoming a Certified B Corp means for LCP

Two years ago, we started a journey to test ourselves against one of the most demanding standards for responsible business in the world. We recently passed that test — we’re now a Certified B Corp!

Becoming a B Corp is a significant milestone for us. It recognises the values that have shaped LCP for decades: supporting our people, delivering positive impact through our client work, and contributing meaningfully to our communities and the environment. But it also challenges us to keep raising the bar.

Why we chose the B Corp path

As a people centred firm, we’ve always believed that commercial success and responsible business can reinforce one another. The B Corp framework gave us a rigorous, credible way to test that belief and to benchmark ourselves against some of the world’s most progressive organisations.

With more than ten thousand B Corps globally, we’re joining a community proving that better business is possible at every scale.

Becoming certified took more than two years and the expertise of over 25 colleagues. The assessment looked across the whole firm, including:

  • Governance: how we make decisions and manage risk
  • People: how we support colleagues and build a positive workplace.
  • Customers: how we create long term value and impact for our clients
  • Community: how we give back through volunteering and partnerships
  • Environment: how we manage and reduce our environmental impact

When we started gathering the evidence for the assessment, I realised how serious the process was. This isn’t just a questionnaire – we had to provide policies, data and real examples of how the business operates. All of that is then independently reviewed and verified by B Lab.

There were moments when we realised that we needed to strengthen and formalise a few things if we wanted to meet the standard – but that’s exactly the point of the process! You are continuously challenged to be and do better.

Businesses need a score of 80 to certify. We achieved 94.5, well above the global average for first time applicants. This is something I’m really proud of.

What’s next for LCP

Certification isn’t the end of the journey. B Corps must recertify every three years, with the expectation that you keep improving. Over the next 18 months, we’ll be focusing on:

  • Developing a more formal Net Zero pathway
  • Strengthening engagement with our suppliers
  • Expanding volunteering opportunities
  • Maximising our industry impact through our client work

Becoming a B Corp is a powerful recognition of who we already are, and a commitment to who we want to be. We’re excited to continue this journey and to work with colleagues, clients, and partners to drive meaningful, scalable change in the years ahead.
