Peter Shaw
I lead LCP’s cyber risk offering for pension schemes and sponsors. In this role I help trustees and scheme managers to understand their scheme’s cyber risk, take sensible steps to ensure appropriate controls are in place, and help them to better prepare themselves for managing unexpected events.
Alongside this I also work with trustees and sponsors to develop risk management solutions that are focused on their scheme’s strategic journey and what worries them most. Increasingly we have seen that unexpected events can throw pension schemes off course. I’m a firm believer that scenario planning is a valuable way for trustees and sponsors to explore in a safe space how they might respond to any unexpected event.
I work across all areas of governance and outsourced pensions management as a member of LCP’s specialist Pensions Management Consulting Department. I deliver outsourced pensions management services and project work for schemes and sponsors of all sizes in a diverse range of market sectors from not-for-profits to banking. I also provide interim or additional support to in-house pensions managers.
I am a Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute and have completed the PRINCE 2 Practitioner certification.
Pete has been instrumental in refreshing the Trustees’ approach to risk management, facilitating a wide ranging and engaging workshop discussion which has produced updated strategic objectives reflecting funding improvements and the Trustees’ aspirations for the Schemes. Following this project, LCP have provided broader support on cyber risk, Own Risk Assessment and to future proof the Trustees’ Effective System of Governance. Their collaborative approach and willingness to be flexible in their approach has made it a useful exercise and an enjoyable experience.
