International day against homophobia, biphobia and transphobia

LCP news CSR Diversity / DEI

Today marks international day against homophobia, biphobia and transphobia (“IDAHOBIT”). The day was created in 2004 to draw attention to the discrimination experienced by those who identify as LGBT+. The date of 17th May was specifically chosen to commemorate the World Health Organisations decision in 1990 to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder.

This year the theme is ‘Our bodies, our lives, our rights’. A theme set to remind us to embrace and celebrate gender freedom and the freedom to love, whilst fighting for equal rights for marginalised communities.

LCP is proud to stand with LGBT Great and its member firms, alongside many other organisations across the world to support and promote IDAHOBIT.

We are committed to working to improve diversity, equity and inclusion for all LGBT+ people both at LCP and across all of the industries we work in. You can read more about our diversity and inclusion journey here: Welcome - LCP D&I journey (foleon.com)

Andrew Fortescue, LCP's Staff Partner and Head of Training and Development, said “I am proud to support IDAHOBIT and take a stand against discrimination against the LGBT+ community. At LCP, we know that people flourish in an environment where there is no fear of discrimination or judgement. We support our LGBT+ colleagues and encourage all at LCP to bring their whole selves to work.”

Jess Horner, Co-chair of LCP’s LGBT+ network, said "I’m proud of how far we have come over recent years to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion for all marginalised communities. I am looking forward to supporting LCP through our networks to continue this journey. Whilst IDAHOBIT is the focus today, at LCP we strive to foster an inclusive culture that stamps out homophobia, biphobia and transphobia in the workplace every day of the year.”
