LCP becomes a signatory of the Race at Work Charter

Diversity / DEI LCP news

LCP has signed up to the Race at Work Charter, formed by Business in the Community as part of its campaign for race equality in the workplace.

As a signatory to the Charter, LCP joins 800+ organisations who have committed to taking practical steps to ensure workplaces are tackling barriers that Black, Asian, Mixed Race and other ethnically diverse people face in recruitment and progression.

The Charter includes seven calls to action to ensure that ethnic minority employees are represented at all levels in an organisation:

  • Appoint an Executive Sponsor for race
  • Capture ethnicity data and publicise progress
  • Commit at board level to zero tolerance of harassment and bullying
  • Make clear that supporting equality in the workplace is the responsibility of all leaders and managers
  • Take action that supports ethnic minority career progression
  • Support race inclusion allies in the workplace
  • Include Black, Asian, Mixed Race and other ethnically diverse-led enterprise owners in supply chains.

LCP’s employee-led Multicultural Network was set up three years ago to promote a race-inclusive culture in the firm. Since its formation, the network has run various initiatives to increase awareness within the firm, provided input on internal policies which aim to improve multicultural representation, and collaborated with professional bodies and organisations to promote multiculturalism on an industry level.

Laasya Shekaran, Consultant and Chair of the LCP Multicultural Network, commented, “Ethnic minorities still face significant disparities in employment and progression, and that is something we need to change. Fostering a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment is core to our business at LCP, which is why we are proud to have committed to the seven calls to action for leaders and organisations across all sectors that the Charter sets out.”

Jill Ampleford, Partner & chair of LCP’s Diversity and Inclusion Group added: “We want everyone to have the opportunity to fulfil their potential at LCP. That’s why as a firm we have made a commitment to breaking down barriers and creating an inclusive environment. Signing up to initiatives like this are vital to working towards that goal, and our Multicultural Network have done a fantastic job to ensure LCP are signatories to this charter.”
