LCP Delta provided commercial route-to-market advisory support to Revera Energy as it moved its 400MW/800MWh Hunterston battery energy storage system (BESS) project towards financial close and construction.

Revera recently announced financial close and the start of construction for the Hunterston BESS project in North Ayrshire, Scotland. The project, one of the UK’s largest battery energy storage developments, is expected to enter commercial operation in 2028 and forms part of Revera’s wider Scottish storage portfolio.

LCP Delta worked with Revera during the development process, providing independent commercial support as the company negotiated multiple route-to-market arrangements. Combining long-term energy market forecasting with insight into short-term trading dynamics, LCP Delta helped Revera weigh up its options and assess the key contractual points shaping the asset’s revenue strategy.

The Hunterston project has secured long-term arrangements with bp and Danske Commodities, which will provide trading, optimisation and revenue support services.

Battery storage developers are operating in a more sophisticated commercial environment, with several route-to-market options available and significant value at stake in contractual negotiations. Our role is to help clients understand the opportunities, risks and trade-offs, so they can make informed commercial decisions with confidence.

We're delighted to have supported Revera on such an important project and congratulate the team on reaching this major milestone.”

Rajiv Gogna Head of LCP Delta

LCP Delta came highly recommended to us, and it quickly became clear why. Their ability to bring together deep expertise across long-term forecasting and short-term trading gave us valuable insight and support as we negotiated a range of route-to-market arrangements for our battery storage assets.

The team was responsive throughout, and their advice was concise, practical and commercially focused. We now have a route-to-market approach that we are highly confident in.

Ron Kiecana Head of Revera UK and Carlyle Group Operating Partner

Hunterston is Revera’s second UK transmission-connected BESS project to reach financial close in 2026. It forms part of a growing portfolio that will help increase grid flexibility and support the UK’s energy transition.

For LCP Delta, the work reflects growing demand from battery developers, investors and infrastructure owners for independent commercial advice on route-to-market strategy, revenue optimisation and contract negotiations as the storage sector matures.

As energy projects grow in scale and complexity, commercial strategy matters more than ever. Contact LCP Delta to learn how our experts can support route-to-market decisions, contract negotiations and revenue optimisation.
