In recent years, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) investing gained traction across global markets. However, in the US, there's been a growing political and regulatory backlash — especially in certain states and at the federal level — against ESG integration in investment decisions. Several state pension funds are pulling out of ESG-aligned strategies, lawsuits have been filed, and asset managers are facing increased scrutiny. As US momentum slows or reverses, UK investors are left wondering what implications this might have for global ESG efforts and cross-border investment flows.

In this episode, we speak with Andy Howard, Global Head of Sustainable Investment at Schroders to dive into a topic that's making waves across the Atlantic: the growing backlash against ESG investing in the United States. We talk about what’s really happening, what’s at stake and how investors should think about this evolving landscape.

For our Views from the Boardroom section, Letty speaks to Shyam Gharial to talk about the investment opportunity in agriculture and, in particular, regenerative agriculture, a relatively new opportunity.
